New York Food Diary

One of the most exciting things about this trip to New York was the amount and variety of food that was on offer and as a foodie I was seriously overwhelmed! This post is for all you other foodies out there who are heading to the "Big Apple" and want to know some good spots to try.

Coming to New York we obviously had to try the $1 that we'd heard so much about and we were not disappointed! They are 100% worth the hype they come the size of your face great cheese to sauce ratio and are only a dollar what more could anyone ask for and perfect fro when you're running out of money from eating out at amazing places all day like we did hahah.

This was absolutely my most favourite meal that we had on the entire trip it was a chicken gyros from Eata Pita in the dining concourse at grand central station. The gyros had beautifully seasoned chicken , humous, mixed salad and was doused in Tzatziki and was the size of two balled up fists all the ingredients for an amazing meal. Just looking at it now makes my mouth water and if i ever get a chance to go back it will definitely be my first food stop! I would a 100% recommend they also offer a selection of falafels, shwarmas, gyros, Turkish salads, Middle Eastern Salads, soups, sides, yummy Middle Eastern desserts and much more. So definitely stop on by and “Eata Pita” they always leave you wanting more.

A really cool thing about New York and I assume America in general is that you can get a fully cooked lunch in their super markets which I think is amazing if you're ever stuck and come across a whole foods or any other super market you'll be able to find something hot and delicious to eat so never fear there's food everywhere.

There was no way we'd go to New York without experiencing an authentic American sub so we had to try it out. We went to a place called Lenny's which we kept seeing all over the city which filled us with confidence that it had to be an at leas half way decent place to eat and that it was. The sub was a traditional 12 inch and you had the choice of making your on sub from scratch or choosing one of the pre set ones from the menu I chose the breaded chicken cheddar sub which had breaded chicken breasts, Melted Cheddar, Crispy Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato on sourdough bread. It is the beast sub sandwich I've had to date I would also recommend trying one these out if you're ever in town.

If you're looking for breakfast with a view then having breakfast at the one world observatory is the place to do it. The one world observatory is the highest building in the western hemisphere and as you can imagine the view from the top of the observatory spans for miles what a better way to

Joe and the Juice

If you're a fan of Mexican food Los Tacos No.1 a bustling taqueria serving tacos, quesadillas & aguas frescas in a street-style set-up based in Chelsea market is the best place to go. Great food at great prices in a great location.

If your looking for a drink with a view try out the boat house in the middle of central park they offer a lake side bar service with affordable cocktails and they also have a restaurant and when your finished with the wining and dining you can hire one of the boats and go for a cute row out on the lake to complete your experience.

Shake Shack

If you don't know anything about New York Brunch is a big deal. On the weekends restaurants all over the city offer brunch services with highly instagrammable food, locations, views and endless fountains of unlimited cocktails, honestly what is not to like! We joined the native new Yorkers on their brunch quest and ended up at this really cool place called Hotel Chantelle who offered signature cocktails from as little as $0.95! They offer all the classic staples of a brunch if you're ever stuck for choice i would 100% recommend their eggs Benedict they were absolutely delicious . As well as amazing food they also have a beautiful roof top terrace which has amazing views of the lower east side and their downstairs has this cool dimly lit speakeasy type vibe. This brunch experience was achievable for a budget of less than $25 dollars! Which is not bad if you ask me especially in New York, Seconds anyone?
