New Views of New York: Top 3 places to Hang out in New York

As a non-native New Yorker, I did all of the touristy things one would usually expect. I visited the statue of liberty, went up the Rockefeller Center, and took a picture on the steps at Times Square. But, I also wanted to discover some of New York’s hidden treasures and get a sense of what New York was like “out of office hours." With the help of a native New Yorker, I visited some of the city’s coolest must-see spots and have shared some below.

Situated in the heart of New York’s Meatpacking District, Chelsea Market was one of my favorite places that I visited whilst exploring New York. Chelsea Market houses an amazing food hall with food from around the world including an amazing Italian pizzeria, a wine Vault, a Mexican taco restaurant, a donoughtery, a chocolatier, various bakeries, delicatessens, and an artisanal salt and oils stall, just to name a few. As well as an amazing food court, it also hosts a shopping center and office space housing YouTube’s New York headquarters and the Food Network amongst many other companies. Housed in the former National Biscuit factory—where the famous Oreo cookie was invented—the market fills the entire block, 9th and 10th Avenue and 15th and 16th Streets.

If you’re looking for a great place to head to for brunch, Hotel Chantelle is definitely the spot to hit up. If one is lucky enough to be there at the right time, you may even be graced by the presence of some of America’s brightest and best—Selena Gomez is one notable illustrious dinner. Offering signature cocktails from as little as $0.95, this is a great place to have a boozy brunch with your girl gang. Their roof top terrace has amazing views of the lower east side and is totally Instagrammable, whilst downstairs has a dimly lit speakeasy type vibe together with in-house DJ. Altogether, it's a great place to hang out with your friends and it's achievable for a budget of less than $25 dollars! Not bad if you ask me. Seconds anyone?

If you haven’t heard about the CF Clubhouse yet, where have you been!? CollegeFashionista has just opened its doors to their brand new summer clubhouse where Style Gurus and friends can hang out, meet other Style Gurus, and share fashion and beauty secrets. The Clubhouse is based in the NoLita Neighborhood of New York at 168 Bowery, so if you're in the area between June 20th and July 14th head on down for access to exclusive workshop and events.

These are three of my favorite finds! I hope this gives you some ideas about places to check out whenever you’re in New York. Where do you think is a must go when visiting the city? Let me know in the comments below.
